About us at "Brockenmoor"

We are Birgit & Gerd Schneevoigt living in the middle of Germany, directly at the feed of the "Brocken" the highest mountain of the area. We are the home of Brockenmoor Bengals in Germany and we have the official ministerial permission to raise Bengals in Germany!
Our cattery was officially checked and our professional competence was examined.
Our cattery name was chosen typical for our area after a lot of consideration about it.
Me, Birgit Schneevoigt, studied forestry in Schwarzburg.
From my apprenticeship on until my retraining I went hunting intensively, where my preference were mainly the recording of game population and its preservation. So the care and observation for the game was most important for me. I this time I worked on a lot of projects about rare animals in the Harz area and my love to nature, game and animals arised in my early youth. This love to animals have not let me off until today.
From my early childhood on I was together with animals and soon was clear I wanted to work with animals. That is what I did in the forestry and today the Bengals and the German Shorthair pointers have all my love.
I went trough a retraining to a "qualified employee in tax and economically consulting professions", and so I could also work independently as a economic adviser. I was working in this job for 4 years. Since 1999 I am at home, because of my children and the Bengal breed. this gives me the possibility to care very intensively for the cats, children and for our house. In May 2004 I pass the exam to get a licence for hunting and it is now more easy to train our dogs by myself.

My husband, Gerd Schneevoigt, works in the research department of the Radsatzfabrik Ilsenburg. He is a very lovely husband and a wonderful father for our children. Gerd likes to work at our house ( where there is still much to modify and to be built new...) and loves our Bengals and German- Shorthair-Pointers very much!
We have two children, Juliane is 18 years old and is already now an ace in webdesign, which is helping us a lot to keep our web page up to date. Now she is attending a "Gymnasium" and wants to study veterinary medicine after he school time, so she is now already interested in the health of animals. Nicole is 13 years old and is attending a "Gymnasium" too.
She does not have a imagination of her job in the future, at the moment. She likes to be together with the cats and dogs, she feeds the animals, and does this with much responsibility.

We are very proud of both of our children. Besides my parents are living with us in the same house, they are helping us often and we are happy that there is always somebody in the house who can have a look at the cats and dogs. Even then when we are on a cat show or doing something with the dogs.
There are two German-Shorthair-Pointer living in our house, which we got at the age of 7 weeks and accustomed to our cats. With big success. They consistent very good with our Bengal cats and are lovely and adherent and live as family members with us. Our dogs are also very well accepted by our cats and they are very lovely to strangers.
Anna and Arco do not have to live in a dog kennel. Both are trained hunter dogs and are lead as that.

All our Bengals and our dogs are permanently checked by a veterinarian. They have much space to play and rage, which is helping them to keep their condition and devote themselves to daily game hours.

We live in a very big house (450mē living space and 2000mē property) at the outskirts of Ilsenburg, not too far from fields and forests. Our Bengals are all the day running trough the whole house, but in the night we have our cats and also the dogs near us in the living floor. Our dogs can run the whole day free in our property, they are always near us when we are doing something outside, but if there is bad weather they are of course allowed to go in.
Our kittens are very well socialized and are lovely to strangers, and they are used to other cats as well as kitten of the same age and dogs, kids and adults.
Our GSP are also very open-minded, because we often have visitors they know that there are other people entering the yard, but nevertheless they always let us know when there is somebody coming.
Our children often have friends here, we also have constantly contact to our friends, which gives us the chance never to have afraid kittens. Same for the dogs which learned with this not to be aggressive.
We have special rooms for the pregnant cats and mother cats with newborns, so each mother cat has her own undisturbed place where she can raise her kittens in the first weeks. This room is always very light room where they have their own privacy.
With the same care we want to raise our dog babies, Jule will become a separate room in the basement of our house where it is also very light and she can be undisturbed.

We keep each Bengal litter separate until the babies are 9 weeks old to make sure that we can keep the high health and hygiene Standard of our cattery.
We have been successfully breeding for several years now for the big three-colored rosettes as well as for beautiful long bodied cats and strong Bengals kitten with a good condition. We are breeding for a wonderful orange and yellow-golden ground color with very dark pattern and a good contrast, for a good type and a beautiful head.
We are breeding for very beautiful wild looking domesticated and lovely Bengalkitten as SBT, which stands for further generation. The health of the animals is always at the first position, so we are foremost breeding for healthy kittens, and use for this only genetically faultless Bengal cats. We are breeding without marble and snow and as far as possible also without marble in the pedigrees. So our kittens should not be carrying for snow or marble but we are not giving any guaranties. It is our goal to come with a domesticated cat very close to the wild model the Leopard, this is why we have been working for several years at the really white tummies, how the wild cat shows it.
We are member of TICA and TIBCS and of the German Shorthair Club "Kurhessen".

Please ask further questions and for further information any time!
